Fujieda MYFC returned to winning ways today as they defeated third place Machida Zelvia at home. Oha’s second goal of the season and his first since April sees Zelvia continue their poor run of form.
Toshihide Saito for a rare occasion this season was able to name an unchanged side for the match with Kerlon remaining on the bench, still unfit to start.
Zelvia’s top scorer Koji Suzuki was unavailable so the away side decided to start with a 4-5-1 system with Brazilian Albirex Niigata loanee Anderson up front on his own. The striker has yet to score this season despite making seven appearances.
The temperature at the match recorded at just below 30 degrees celsius and maybe the heat was taking its toll on the players with a slow first half. The home side had the better in times of shots with both Alan and Daijirou Okuda having two shots each for the home side. Zelvia managed three in the first 45.
The half time break saw captain Takahisa Nishiyama replaced by Oha. For once, the Nigerian forward was brought on before the 70th minute, to end a streak of four matches which he saw less than twenty minutes playing time in each.
The away side also decided to make changes at the break, a tactical switch to put more emphasis on attack. Defender Kai Miki and midfielder Yoshihiro Shoji were replaced by midfielder Shohei Yanagizaki and forward Seiya Murakami, who was without this season so far.
It looked like it may have been too early for him as three minutes into the second half, Oha picked up his fourth booking of the season. The striker will now be banned for the next match. Saito then picked up his third booking of the season six minutes later.
Alan and Okuda were again providing the threat for MYFC after both of them having more shots in the second half.
However, it only took one shot from Oha to put the hosts in front. In the 64th minute, Shogo Fujimaki set up the Nigerian for his second of the season. It was to be his only shot of the game but it was definitely quality of quantity.
Zelvia then threw everything at Fujieda as the looked to get a late equaliser but the home side held on firm to avenge their 3-0 loss away in Zelvia earlier in the season.

Next game: Sunday 14th July 3pm (7am UK time), SC Sagamihara (away)
A brilliant win for Fujieda! Great to see Oha get on the scoresheet and help his side defeat the team in third place. It is just a shame he will not be able to keep up his form next week as he as accumulated his ban for four yellow cards.
Next week is an away trip to Sagamihara. They’re are currently in eighth place but had an impressive win over Sony Sendai this weekend.
