Yes! Fujieda are the winners of the Shizuoka Prefecture Cup and have therefore qualified for the first round of the Emperor’s Cup which starts next week! A 1-0 win over arch rivals Honda FC was enough to see MYFC claim victory and qualification the country’s largest national cup.
After Saturday’s semi final win, Toshihide Saito decided to make some changes. He left out Shogo Nakatsuru and Hiroki Narabayashi for goalscorer Kazushi Uchida and Toshiya Ishii. Takumi Hashimoto also made way for Takahisa Nishiyama, who started up front with Alan dropping back into midfield.
The only goal of the game came in the first half when Yuta Murase whipped in a corner from the left side. Shogo Fujimaki rose above everyone else to head home the winner and spark jubilant celebrations between the Fujieda players.

Well Fujieda have done it! They have qualified for the Emperor’s Cup and my, have they been rewarded. Their first round match sees them at home to regional league side Arterivo Wakayama, which is surely a winnable for the hosts.
But then comes the big news. If MYFC win that match, they will face J League Division 1 giants, Shimizu S-Pulse! The side with the biggest following in Shizuoka, will provide a massive test for Fujieda. The side are also Saito’s and Daisuke Ichikawa’s former clubs which will add even more excitement to the match.
