Although it was another loss for Fujieda, they can take heart from a spirited performance against a side battling for the Japan Football League title. That is because they matched their opponents throughout the ninety minutes and did not cave in despite an early goal.
Toshihide Saito decided on a change of system from last week’s 5-4-1 to a 4-5-1 formation. Out went Hiroki Narabayashi, Kazushi Uchida and Takumi Hashimoto and in came last week’s goalscorer Hiroyuki Ishida, Alan and Toshiya Ishii, who had missed the previous two games.
Kamatamare Sanuki went for an attacking system from the off, lining up with a 4-3-3 with leading goalscorer Ryosuke Kijima the main man up top.
The game could not have got off to a worse start for the hosts. After just three minutes, they were a goal down. Striker Kazuya Okamura’s first goal of the season in his eleventh appearance gave the visitors the lead.
There would have surely been a worry in the Fujieda camp that this was going to be a long game with their visitors going ahead early but it did not turn out that way.
MYFC dug deep and did not give the title contenders an easy ride. Sanuki were mostly on top in the first half having five shots compared to three from the hosts.
The second half saw the tide change with Fujieda trying to grab an equaliser. In the 68th minute, Narabayashi came on for Alan, who had looked dangerous having two shots, and Takahisa Nishiyama was replaced by Akira Toshima five minutes later.
Despite this, MYFC could not break down Sanuki’s solid defence, which is the second meanest in the division having conceded just 23 goals before the match.
Saito’s last roll of the dice was to throw on Hashimoto for Ishida but it was to no avail as the visitors held on to their slender lead after they had a few defensive minded substitutions.
Fujieda MYFC (4-5-1) – Murao; Sato, Tominari, Okuda, Ichikawa; Ishii, Hisatomi, Alan (Narabayashi 68′), Murase, Ishida (Hashimoto 86′); Nishiyama (Toshima 73′)
Kamatamare Sanuki (4-3-3) – Ieki; Amo, Hatano, Noguchi, Mochidome; Fujita (Osawa 72′), Tsunada, Blédé (Kanzaki 87′); Ishida, Okamura, Kijima (Jun 90′)
Final score: Fujieda MYFC 0-1 Kamatamare Sanuki
Scorers: Okamura 3′
Next game: Honda FC (away) 10/11/13 04:00/13:00
Another loss for Fujieda then but they players cannot be too disappointed with how they performed. Just three games left now this season so let’s hope they can get a few more points on the board to end the year on a high.
