JFL Preview: Honda FC v Fujieda MYFC

It’s that time of the season again. Time for Shizuoka derby. Fujieda travel to their prefecture rivals to defend the bragging rights which they won earlier in the season.

The two sides have met twice already this season. The first ended in a 3-3 draw but it was the season’s second meeting which MYFC fans will never be forget.

A 1-0 win over Honda in the Shizuoka Prefecture Cup final was enough to secure Fujieda’s first ever qualification to the Emperor’s Cup.

But that was back in August, first forward two and half months and Honda are the side on top. Currently sitting in seventh place, they are six spots and eleven points ahead of MYFC.

Fujieda MYFC team news

Although it was another loss last week for Fujieda last week, they can take heart from last week’s 1-0 loss to Kamatamare Sanuki. It was a decent perfromance against a side pushing for the title.

The majority of MYFC’s squad is now available. The only real change which could happen this week could be Toshihide Saito returning to the starting lineup, he placed himself on the bench last week and decided against making an appearance.

This means it is likely to be a hard decision for Saito on who makes it into his starting lineup. A near fully fit squad, all of whom will be pushing to make the team for the derby. The hunger for victory should be higher then ever.
