J3 Preview: Fujieda MYFC v Gainare Tottori

Gainare match

This Sunday, Fujieda host unbeaten Gainare Tottori, who were relegated from J League Division 2 last season, in match day 6 of the J3 League.

Fujieda MYFC team news
After a successful spell using a 4-4-2 system, Musashi Mizushima decided to change to a 4-2-3-1 system last week for the goalless draw against Fukushima United.

After going 90 minutes without being able to break down the Fukushima defence, it could be possible that Fujieda return to a 4-4-2 formation this week as they aim to get back to winning ways.

Kazushi Uchida and Yuichiro Edamoto both made their first starts of the season last week and both lasted the full ninety minutes. Both can therefore be in-line for another start this weekend.

One player who definitely will not be in the team this Sunday is striker-turned-defender Mitsuru Mansho. The 24 year old went off at half time against Nagano Parceiro two weeks ago with an injury. He missed last week’s match and could be out for up to eight weeks.

After playing their first season in the J League in 2011, their three year struggle in Japan’s second tier came to an end last year when, after finishing bottom of the league, they lost 2-1 on aggregate in the relegation/promotion play-offs to Kamatamare Sanuki.

This season though, after three years of suffering many defeats, Gainare are enjoying a much better time. After the first five games of the season, they remain unbeaten with two wins and three draws. The side has also only conceded two goals, the lowest in the league.

The only downside for Gainare is that they have scored just four goals, the third lowest in the league.

Their top scorer so far this season is 28 year old Eijiro Mori. The full back has been a regular in the side since the 2012 season and has already equalled his best goalscoring record for a season, with two goals this year so far. This is likely to be because he is now playing in a more advanced role on the left wing.

The other two players to score this year for the side are centre back Kenta Togawa and winger Ryuji Hirota. The club’s four main strikers are yet to produce a goal or an assist between them.

Last season’s result
The clubs were in separate divisions last year.

Kick off
The match is on Sunday at 13:00 local time or 05:00 UK time.
