Fujieda’s three game unbeaten strike came to a crashing end as they lost 2-0 at home to still unbeaten Gainare Tottori. In a tight affair, a goal in each half was enough to secure victory for the former J2 side.
There were two changes to the starting line-up from last week’s draw with Fukushima United for MYFC. Out went Shunya Ando and Takumi Hashimoto, both had started the previous five games, and in came Yuhei Marumoto and Daijirou Okuda.
Gainare went with a 5-3-2 system with strikers Koya Tanio and Tatsuya Okamoto, both yet to score this season, leading the line.
After a tense start, it was the visitors who took an early lead. Just 13 minutes into the match, Okamoto gave Gainare the lead. It was the 27 year old’s first goal of the season and will come as a huge relief for the striker having not scored since he bagged a brace in August last year.
The game went into half time with the scoreline at 0-1 but despite seeing his side trail, Musashi Mizushima decided against making any substitutes at half time.
In fact, Mizushima waited until the 65th minute, with the score still at 0-1, to make a change as he brought Hashimoto on for Yuichiro Edamoto.
Maybe the change disrupted Fujieda’s flow as just four minutes later, Gainare doubled their lead. This time it was defender Kazuaki Mawatari who scored. The goal was the 22 year old’s first since joining Gainare at the start of the season, having graduated from Toyo University.
In response, the home side threw on Ando, Shogo Nakatsuru and Ryuji Mochizuki from the bench to try and salvage something from the game but it was too late. The lack of attacking options from the bench was a real concern for Fujieda, with two defenders and two midfielders on the bench, it was hard for any of them to make an impact.
In the end, it finished 0-2 with MYFC managing just four shots all game against a very solid Gainare defence, which has conceded just 2 goals all year and moves into 2nd place with this win.

A shame that the unbeaten run came to an end but Gainare are a good time with a very good defence. Time to bounce back next week away to Sagamihara now.
