J3 Review: Fujieda MYFC 2-1 Yokohama SCC

A late goal, deep into stoppage time, ensured Fujieda MYFC recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season as they defeated bottom-club YSCC 2-1.

Fujieda lined up with their usual 4-4-2 system but with numerous changes in personnel. Desmond returned from his internal ban last to start in defence, replacing Ryuji Mochizuki at centre back. Hiroki Narabayashi also came into defence, taking the place of Daijirou Okuda, who dropped out of the squad altogether. Ken Hisatomi and Masato Mizuki dropped out of midfield, their places taken by Yuhei Marumoto and Takumi Hashimoto.

YSCC started the game with what appeared to be a 3-6-1 system, with their leading scorer Akio Yoshida starting in an attacking midfielder position.

The previous two Fujieda matches have seen Tsugutoshi Oishi score within the opening ten minutes to give his side the lead and this match was no different. In the 3rd minute, Oishi pounced to give MYFC the lead with his 9th goal of the season.

YSCC then picked up two bookings as they searched for an equaliser after conceding so early on. Eventually, that equaliser came, as in the 45th minute, top scorer Akio Yoshida scored his fourth of the season to make it 1-1 going into the half time interval.

The second half began with MYFC striker Yusuke Ishii picking up a booking. Then with 15 minutes gone in the second period, the first substitute of the game was introduced, with Hisatomi coming on to replaced Hashimoto. It was no surprise to see the diminutive attacking midfielder introduced, he had started all 12 of the games previous to this one.

YSCC then rolled the dice, gradually making four changes as the game ticked down with the score still tied at 1-1.

Then began a hectic period of stoppage time. First, Takahiro Tanio replaced Yuichiro Edamoto in Fujieda’s second susbtitution, before Yuhei Marumoto picked up a booking one minute later in the 92nd minute.

However, the drama was only just beginning as in the fourth minute of injury time, full-back Masaya Sato headed home substitute Hisatomi’s cross for his first goal of the season and to secure a third win of the season for MYFC. A dramatic late win had been achieved.
