J3 Preview: Fujieda MYFC v FC Ryūkyū

Ryukyu match 2Match day 16 of the J3 League sees 11th place host 10th place as Fujieda MYFC take on FC Ryukyu. A win for Fujieda would see them leapfrog them into 10th place.

Following to losses in a row, this Sunday’s home match is a great chance for Fujieda to get back to winning ways.

Last week’s 1-0 loss to Nagano Parceiro was a rare occasion that MYFC striker and top scorer Tsugutoshi Oishi didn’t score a goal. This weekend though, he will be up against the weakest defence in the league, as FC Ryukyu have conceded 29 goals in 15 matches this season. He will be hoping to get back to scoring ways and add to his 9 goals already this season.

Elsewhere, Ken Hisatomi looked lively last weekend on his return to the starting line-up and is likely to start again this Sunday.

FC Ryukyu come into this match after two very heavy defeats. This week they were handed a 6-0 defeat by J League U22 and the week before they lost 4-0 to Sagamihara. Altogether, in Ryukyu’s last three matches, they have conceded 12 goals and scored none.

Ryukyu have picked up just 5 points all year away from home. One of those points came in their 2-2 draw away to Fujieda back in March.

The side have scored 15 goals this season so far, with them being shared around the side. Attacking midfielder Noritaka Fujisawa and striker Shota Aoki both have three goals each.

One of the club’s key players this season though is midfielder Keisuke Tanabe. The 22-year-old has had a bright start to his professional career in J3 after he joined Ryukyu from Chuo University in January.

The midfielder has four assists so far this season, leading the assist charts for Ryukyu.
