Fujieda MYFC team news
After the 1-0 win over FC Ryukyu last week, don’t expect too many changes to Musashi Mizushima’s starting line-up this Sunday.
One change which is a possibility though is the return of Desmond. He missed out last week, possibly from an internal ban after he picked up a booking the week before, so he could return to the heart of the defence this Sunday.
Last week also saw centre back/striker Mitsuru Mansho make a return to the squad, after several months out injured. He came on a 60th minute substitute last week and will be pushing for a place in the starting XI this Sunday.
Gainare Tottori fact file
Stadium: Yajin Stadium (usually Tottori Bank Bird Stadium)
Manager: Masanobu Matsunami
Last season: 22nd (J2)
After being relegated last year from J2, Gainare Tottori have made a very solid start to life back in Japan’s third tier.
Currently in fourth place, Gainare still have hopes of making a challenge for one of the promotion spots, to make a instant return to J2.
It is the side’s defence though which has to be congratulated for their decent start. They have only conceded 10 goals in 16 matches so far this season.
Their defence gets most of the credit as well as Gainare have only scored 12 goals so far, only bottom club YSCC haven’t scored more (also scored 12). Only six different players have scored so far and Kazuaki Mawatari and Tatsuya Okamoto have over half the goals between them.
Mawatari is the side’s top scorer. He has four goals this year despite being a right back. The 22-year-old therefore is enjoying a decent start to life as a professional footballer, having joined from Toyo University in January.
27-year-old forward Okamoto has three goals so far this year in 16 appearances. The striker scored three goals last year for Gainare in J2 but in 2012, managed 8 in just 18 games for Mito HollyHock in J2, so he knows how to find the back of the net.
Last season’s result
The clubs were in separate divisions last year.
The match is on Sunday at 15:00 local time or 07:00 UK time.
