J3 Preview: Fujieda MYFC v Machida Zelvia

Machida match 2

Fujieda MYFC have a tough task if they are to secure a first win in four games as they host top of the table side Machida Zelvia. The two sides met in the first game of the season, with Machida winning 3-0.

Fujieda MYFC team news
After coming so close to a victory away to SC Sagamihara, having been denied by a stoppage time goal, it is unlikely there will be any wholesale changes to MYFC’s team this Sunday. One change that is possible though and that is after his goal off the bench last week, Yuichiro Edamoto could be in place for a start this weekend.

Top scorer Tsugutoshi Oishi returned to scoring ways last weekened, scoring his tenth league goal of the season, which means he is now tied third top scorer in the J3 League. More goals from him are needed if Fujieda are to avoid relegation this year.

Attacking midfielder Ken Hisatomi also picked up another assist last week, to take his total to five assists for the season. The chances he creates, come be vital in this Sunday’s match.

Machida Zelvia are having a superb season in the inaugural year of the J3 League. They have lost just one of their 19 games this season and have conceded just nine goals all year. Despite these resounding facts, they are only five points clear at the top of the table so promotion is not guaranteed yet.

As well as conceding the last amount of goals this season, they have also scored the most, a very good combination. Fourteen of their 39 goals this season have come from striker Koji Suzuki. The 25-year-old striker is only one away from his tally of 15 goals for all of last season in the JFL. He also has four assists this season.

Top of their assist charts though is right winger Takafumi Suzuki. The 26-year-old rejoined Machida this year after one unhappy season at Fagiano Okayama last year, where he made just four appearances. This season has been much better though, having recorded eight assists in 17 games. The midfielder also recorded eight assists back in 2012 in J2 for Machida.

This week has also been a busy week for loan signings for Machida as they signed two J2 players on loan. JEF Chiba young defender Naoki Kuriyama and experienced 27-year-old right winger Satoshi Kukino from Tochigi SC have signed for the rest of the season.
