J3 Review: Zweigen Kanazawa 2-0 Fujieda MYFC

Fujieda MYFC fell to their second consecutive 2-0 loss as they were defeated by top of the table side Zweigen Kanazawa.

There were changes in personnel and system made by Musashi Mizushima. Out went Masaya Sato, Ryuji Mochizuki and Yusuke Ishii. In came Hiroki Narabayashi, Kazushi Uchida and Masato Mizuki to accommodate the switch to a 3-5-2 system.

The hosts lined up with a 4-5-1 system, with in-form striker Shoma Mizunaga up front on his own.

The match began and it was Fujieda who have the first chance of the game. Top scorer Tsugutoshi Oishi was played in and his left footed drive from the edge of the area forced the Kanazawa goalkeeper Yoshinobu Harada into a smart save, before he gathered on the rebound.

After a bright start for the visitors, it went downhill from there as Kanazawa soon took the lead. Defender Yuji Sakuda rose above ever in the box to header home a corner in the 23rd minute.

Four minutes later, the hosts scored again but in slightly fortunate circumstances. A swift counter attack allowed full back Shinji Tsujio to put in a deep cross from the right. His ball found the head of joint-top scorer Shohei Kiyohara who’s subsequent effort on goal was deflected off Fujieda defender Hiroki Narabayashi and into the goal.

It was more of the same in the second half as Kanazawa continued to pile on the pressure, twice going close with efforts from Kazuhiro Sato and substitute Junichi Tanaka.

Eventually, Fujieda managed to get some possession but they were restricted to long range efforts. Ken Hisatomi and substitute Shogo Nakatsuru both saw their efforts miss the target.

Then, deep into stoppage time, Kanazawa had a chance to extend their lead when they were awarded a penalty after Narabayashi brought down Kiyohara in the box. The fouled player stepped up to take the penalty himself but it was well saved by MYFC’s goalkeeper Park Iru-Gyu and the rebound was cleared away by Narabayashi, who was desperate to make amends.
